WELCOME DINNER

Day 3Roma Antica

Welcome to Rome!  After breakfast,  we’ll explore the Colosseum and the Fori Imperiali with a local tour guide. The Roman Forum, known as Forum Romanum in Latin, was the heart of ancient Rome, hosting significant religious, political, and social activities. This rectangular area, nestled between Palatine Hill and Capitoline Hill, housed many of the city’s grandest temples and monuments.

Today, the Roman Forum and the Colosseum are among the world’s most iconic tourist destinations, drawing over 4.5 million visitors each year. During our visit, we’ll see Rome as Paul did, including a trip to his prison where he penned letters to Timothy and Philemon, marking his final home on earth. We’ll take a moment to pray and read excerpts from Paul’s letters at this significant location.

Feel free to enjoy the rest of the day exploring Rome at your own pace! Take this opportunity to immerse yourself in the city’s stunning architecture, vibrant culture, and rich history. Whether you choose to wander through charming neighborhoods, visit iconic landmarks such as the Colosseum or the Pantheon, or indulge in some leisurely shopping, the city has so much to offer.

BREAKFAST

Day 4Vatican City and Modern Rome

After breakfast, we will visit with our tour guide Vatican City, the smallest country on earth, the Capella Sistina, and some of the Vatican Museums. We will also visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture and the largest church in the world. It has been described as  “the greatest of all churches of Christendom.”

You’ll have the remainder of the day to explore Rome at your own pace, providing a wonderful opportunity to visit iconic sites such as the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. Enjoy strolling through the city, and perhaps indulge in some shopping along the way.

Don’t forget to savor some local gelato or a traditional Italian coffee as you soak in the ambiance. Embrace the freedom of discovery and make your own memorable experiences in this enchanting city!

BREAKFAST

Day 5 Montecassino & Royal Palace of Casserta

After breakfast, we will head to Naples, making our first stop at the Monastery of Montecassino, founded by Saint Benedict. This visit will provide insight into Christianity during the Middle Ages, as it is here that St. Benedict wrote the Benedictine Rule, the foundation of Western monasticism. The monastery is also notable for being the place where Thomas Aquinas lived and worked. We will take some time to pray at the monastery, reflecting on how Christianity preserved education, arts, and medicine during the Dark Ages—an enriching experience for all.

After a delightful lunch, we will continue our adventure with a visit to the magnificent Royal Palace of Caserta. This stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site is often considered one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Europe.

As we approach the palace, you’ll be captivated by its grand facade and expansive gardens, designed to rival the palaces of Versailles. Once inside, we will explore the opulent interiors, which boast beautifully decorated rooms, intricate frescoes, and exquisite furnishings that reflect the grandeur of the Bourbon monarchy.

Stroll through the lush gardens, adorned with fountains, sculptures, and striking vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see. This is not just a visit to a historical site; it’s an opportunity to step back in time and experience the lavish lifestyle of the royalty who once resided here.

Prepare to be inspired by the incredible beauty and rich history of the Royal Palace of Caserta as we make unforgettable memories together.

BREAKFAST  – LUNCH

Day 6 Pozzuoli - Naples

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will set off towards Pozzuoli, the historic port where Saint Paul first arrived in Naples before his journey to Rome. As we drive through this picturesque region, you’ll have the chance to take in the beautiful coastal scenery.

Upon arriving in Pozzuoli, we will explore the vibrant atmosphere of the port, rich in history and culture. Take a moment to appreciate the significance of this location as we walk in the footsteps of Saint Paul. As you stand by the water’s edge, imagine the ancient travelers who once embarked on their journeys from this very spot.

Next, we’ll visit the Catacombs of San Gennaro, which date back to the 2nd century AD. Originally the tomb of a noble family, the catacombs later became a gathering place for the Christian community, where they met, were baptized, and buried. This exploration will deepen your understanding of early Christian beliefs and practices.

After our visit, we’ll head to downtown Naples, the birthplace of pizza and gelato, renowned for its stunning views of Mount Vesuvius. The city, celebrated in songs like the famous “O Sole Mio,” captures the enchanting beauty of its gulf, basking in sunshine from morning until sunset. The view of the Gulf of Naples with Mount Vesuvius in the background is truly one of the most breathtaking sights in the world. Following a walking tour of downtown Naples, you’ll have free time to explore the city and do some shopping at your leisure. We will finish the day with a delicious dinner to taste the renown Napolitan Pizza.

BREAKFAST – DINNER

Day 7Pompeii - Amalfi Coast

After breakfast, we will visit Pompei. The city was destroyed in 72 AD by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, the biggest continental volcano in Europe, which is still active today. Many believe Pontius Pilate died during that eruption. Visiting this almost intact city, you will understand the Roman Empire and its influence on the world today.

After lunch, we will continue with our visit to the Amalfi Coast. Deemed by Unesco as being an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, the Amalfi Coast is a beguiling combination of great beauty and gripping drama: coastal mountains plunge into the sea in a stunning vertical scene of precipitous crags, picturesque towns, and lush forests. There are multiple shops in the towns we will visit where you can enjoy dinner or snacks on your own.

BREAKFAST – LUNCH

A few important points to keep in mind:

What is the "City Tax"?

The European Tourist tax, also called “City Tax”, usually consists of a fee that applies per person, per nightThe tourist tax is payable locally, and usually at check out from your accommodation. The tax is intended to support local infrastructure, improve the tourism sector, and protect the environment and cultural heritage.

In October 2025, Rome’s city tax rate ranges from €4 to €12 per night, depending on the accommodation’s rating. For a 4-star hotel, the rate is €7.00. Be prepared to pay this tax in person when you check out of your hotel.

What About Tips?

When it comes to tipping drivers and tour guides, it’s generally appreciated to give a gratuity as a sign of thanks for their service. A common guideline is:

  • Drivers: Tipping around   €2 to €5 for full-day tours is standard. Tips should be given each day.
  • Tour Guides: For local guides, a tip of €3 to €5 per person for a half-day tour is customary.

Of course, these amounts can vary based on the quality of service you received and your overall satisfaction. It’s always a good idea to consider the service provided when deciding on the amount.

When dining in Italy and Switzerland, it’s common to leave a small tip as a gesture of appreciation for good service. Overall, tipping is appreciated but not mandatory, and you should tip according to the level of service you received. Here are some guidelines for meal tips:

  • Restaurants: A tip of around 10% to 15% of the total bill is standard if the service is not included. Check your bill, as some restaurants may include a “coperto” (table charge) or service charge.
  • Cafés and Bars: For quick snacks or drinks, rounding up your bill or leaving small change is appreciated. If you receive table service, a tip of €1 to €2 is customary.
  • Buffets: If you dine at a buffet-style restaurant, it’s still courteous to leave a small tip of around €1 per person.
  • Hotel Restaurants: Similar to regular restaurants, a tip of 10% to 15% is appropriate if service is not included.
  • Bathrooms: Public bathrooms in Italy often require a small fee, usually ranging from €0.50 to €2 for access. If you find yourself in need of a restroom, we recommend stopping at a local bar. By purchasing a gelato, coffee, or an aperitivo, you can enjoy a treat while also gaining access to the bathroom for free. This not only provides a convenient solution but also allows you to experience the local café culture. Enjoy your visit!

If you have any more questions or need additional tips, feel free to ask!

Should I book pre/post tour accommodation? Can I extend my trip?

There is no need to book pre- or post-tour accommodations, as everything is included in your itinerary. However, if you wish to extend your time in Italy or arrive earlier than the scheduled start of the tour, we can certainly customize your stay to meet your preferences.

Just let us know your desired travel dates and any specific requests, and we’ll be happy to assist you in arranging additional accommodations or activities to enhance your experience.

I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?

When you make your reservation, the solo traveler supplement will be automatically added to your booking. This ensures that your accommodation is accounted for appropriately. If you have any questions or need further assistance during the booking process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re here to help!

Which currency is most widely accepted on this tour?

You will need Euros for purchases in Italy and Swiss Francs for transactions in Switzerland. While most credit cards are widely accepted in both countries, we recommend having some local currency on hand for small purchases or in places that may not accept cards.

For your convenience, we suggest exchanging your currency at your local bank before your arrival, as this can often provide better rates and ensures you have cash ready for your trip. If you have any questions about currency exchange or financial preparations for your journey, feel free to ask!
