Switzerland to Venice: An Alpine-to-Italian Journey

From the majestic peaks of Switzerland to the sun-drenched canals of Venice, this extraordinary journey brings together alpine landscapes, shimmering lakes, historic cities, and timeless Italian romance.

Travel through Switzerland’s crisp mountain air and breathtaking glacier country before descending toward the palm-lined shores of Lake Como. Venice is a place that grows upon you every day. There seems to be always something to find out in it. There are the most extraordinary alleys and by-ways to walk about in. You can lose your way—what a comfort that is, when you are idle!—twenty times a day if you like; and turn up again under the most unexpected and surprising difficulties. It abounds in the strangest contrasts; things that are picturesque, ugly, mean, magnificent, delightful, and offensive, break upon the view at every turn.

Crossing effortlessly from the precision and tranquility of Switzerland to the passion and artistry of northern Italy, this carefully curated itinerary offers a seamless blend of breathtaking scenery, cultural discovery, and refined travel.

How about tips in my trip?

When it comes to tipping drivers and tour guides, it’s generally appreciated to give a gratuity as a sign of thanks for their service. A common guideline is:

  • Drivers: Tipping around   €2 to €5 for full-day tours is standard. Tips should be given each day.
  • Tour Guides: For local guides, a tip of €3 to €5 per person for a half-day tour is customary.

Of course, these amounts can vary based on the quality of service you received and your overall satisfaction. It’s always a good idea to consider the service provided when deciding on the amount.

When dining in Italy and Switzerland, it’s common to leave a small tip as a gesture of appreciation for good service. Overall, tipping is appreciated but not mandatory, and you should tip according to the level of service you received. Here are some guidelines for meal tips:

  • Restaurants: A tip of around 10% to 15% of the total bill is standard if the service is not included. Check your bill, as some restaurants may include a “coperto” (table charge) or service charge.
  • Cafés and Bars: For quick snacks or drinks, rounding up your bill or leaving small change is appreciated. If you receive table service, a tip of €1 to €2 is customary.
  • Buffets: If you dine at a buffet-style restaurant, it’s still courteous to leave a small tip of around €1 per person.
  • Hotel Restaurants: Similar to regular restaurants, a tip of 10% to 15% is appropriate if service is not included.

If you have any more questions or need additional tips, feel free to ask!
